A member of the Basra Provincial Council, Jihad al-Abadi, caused a political surprise by announcing the transition from the State of Law coalition to the Tasmeem coalition. Al-Abadi said in a special statement to Al-Raya that his transfer came out of personal conviction. Al-Abadi confirmed that he "will be a candidate for the Design Alliance in the upcoming parliamentary elections." Observers pointed out that "Al-Abadi's move to the Design Alliance represents a political repositioning within the visual scene," pointing out that "this step may affect the balance of power between the political alliances in the province."
