The supreme religious authority warned of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the Palestinian people are facing tragic living conditions amid a widespread famine that has affected children, the sick and the elderly, in light of the continuing machine of killing and destruction by the occupation forces. The authority’s statement, followed by Al-Raya, stated that nearly two years of killing and destruction left hundreds of thousands of martyrs and wounded, in addition to the demolition of entire cities and residential complexes, making the Palestinians in Gaza live in extremely bad conditions, especially with the scarcity of food supplies and the terrifying spread of famine. The authority stressed that the continuing brutality of the occupation aims to displace the Palestinians from their land, stressing that it is the duty of the countries of the world, especially the Arab and Islamic countries, to make the utmost efforts to stop this tragedy, and to exert real pressure on the occupying entity and its protectors to allow food and humanitarian aid to be delivered to innocent civilians as quickly as possible. The statement concluded by pointing out that the widespread images of famine do not leave room for any person with a conscience to enjoy food or drink, citing the words of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him): “If a Muslim person died after this in regret, he would not be to blame, but rather he would be worthy of it in my eyes.”
