The head of the Integrity Committee of the Basra Provincial Council, Baydaa Al-Nahi, announced that during the next two days, consumable water will be pumped through the irrigation canal from the Al-Suwaib project to the districts of Shatt Al-Arab, Abu Al-Khasib, Al-Faw, and the Siba district.

Al-Nahi stated in statements followed by Al-Raya that the idea of ​​the project came after the Director of the Water Resources Department in Basra presented the initiative to the Minister of Water Resources, where it was approved and implemented within a record period that did not exceed 17 days.

Al-Nahi explained that she visited the project and was briefed on the field about the details of its implementation, describing it as “a great effort and a successful project,” calling on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Oil to support it and reward its workers, noting that the project staff came from other governorates and work for low salaries that do not exceed 300 thousand dinars, without receiving rewards or incentives, and that food allocations amounting to 100 thousand dinars have not been paid for months.

Al-Nahi confirmed that the local government of Basra supports the project, which is evident in the repeated visits of officials to it during the recent period.
