Representative Faleh Al-Khazali criticized the British ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, pointing out that he is “of Pakistani origin, and his specialty is to stir up strife in the countries in which he works,” as he put it.

Al-Khazali explained, in a blog post followed by Al-Raya, that Siddiq served as British ambassador to Azerbaijan between 2015 and 2018, a period that witnessed tensions and conflicts between Iran and Azerbaijan. He also worked as ambassador to Iran, where protests broke out and he was accused of interference.

Al-Khazali stressed that the presence of the British ambassador in Iraq must be within the limits of diplomatic work, warning that any interference in Iraqi internal affairs would be met with an official request to expel him from the country.
