The Basra Third Investigation Court announced that it had initiated legal procedures regarding the death of Dr. Ban Ziad Tariq.

The court stated in a statement followed by Al-Raya that it had begun recording the statements of the personal rights plaintiffs and a number of witnesses.

It stated that it had arrested one of the accused and was awaiting the forensic report to determine the true causes of death.
