Independent MP Amir Al-Mamouri revealed the existence of a list that includes Baathist figures above the VIP who are candidates for the parliamentary elections and do not have access to accountability or justice.

Al-Mamouri said in a press statement followed by Al-Raya that there is a list of 17 well-known Baathist figures in the political community, all of whom have a rank of “above VIP” and have received exceptions to the eradication laws, which places them outside the scope of the Accountability and Justice Commission’s oversight and threatens the transparency of the electoral process.

Al-Mamouri added that these Baathist figures are well-known in the political community, and are distributed among different blocs, noting that the parliamentary blocs are currently in controversy and preoccupation over this list, which includes 17 names.

Al-Mamouri stressed the need to cancel the exceptions granted to these candidates, to ensure their coverage by the laws and to lift any protection umbrella that prevents their accountability, in a way that preserves the integrity of the next parliament and enhances the transparency of the elections.
