Today, Saturday, MP Zahra Al-Bajari criticized the absence of tangible results from Turkish promises regarding increasing water releases to Iraq, considering that the weakness of the Iraqi negotiator and diplomacy contributed to the exacerbation of the water crisis.

She said in statements followed by Al-Raya, “The announcement of an increase in water releases remained within the framework of media statements and was not achieved on the ground, which reflects a clear deficiency in the performance of the Iraqi negotiator and the tools of official diplomacy.”

Al-Bajari pointed out that Iraq has pressure cards that could have been used effectively, most notably the volume of trade and economic exchange with Turkey, which is estimated at billions of dollars annually, asking: “Why is this card not invested to guarantee Iraq’s water rights?”
