In a new development in the case of the murder of Dr. Sarah Al-Abouda, the clan sheikh of the main accused, who is from the Bani Tamim tribe, responded to Rehab Al-Abouda’s statements, describing them as “fabricated and false.” The clan sheikh confirmed, in a press statement, that “the clan did not provide any sums of money as a tribal chapter, neither to itself, nor to the families of the victim.” He added: “What Rehab Al-Abouda mentioned is completely untrue, and neither she nor anyone else offered any sum, and we strongly deplore the inclusion of our clan’s name in these fabricated allegations that have no connection to the truth.” The clan sheikh continued: “What you are doing is a blatant exploitation of a painful public opinion issue, turning it into a platform for media appearances, and a search for personal gain at the expense of the victim’s blood and the pain of her family.” He concluded by saying: "We call for respecting the feelings of the grieving family, and we condemn any attempt to politicize or commodify this tragedy. The case is before the judiciary, and we are committed to what it issues. As for Rehab Al-Abouda, we say to her: Do not mention Bani Tamim. We are not bargained for, we are not bought, and we do not allow our name to be slandered to serve narrow agendas."
