The Director of the Electoral Commission Office in Basra, Haider Al-Silawi, announced that the Commission has completed all necessary preparations to hold the elections for the Iraqi Parliament, stressing the readiness of the centers and technical and administrative cadres.

Al-Silawi said that the Basra Elections Office will open 36 polling stations tomorrow for private voting at 207 stations, to receive members of the armed forces, including the Popular Mobilization Forces, who number about 62,000 members.

He added that the general voting will include 522 polling centers, including more than 3,000 stations, prepared to receive 1,555,000 voters who hold the biometric card, noting that all electoral materials and sensitive and non-sensitive devices have been fully distributed to the centers.

Al-Silawi stressed that the Commission is committed to announcing the preliminary results within 24 hours of the closing of the polls, as stipulated by the law.
