The Integrity Committee of the Basra Governorate Council revealed oversight moves regarding the city district water treatment plant project, against the backdrop of recording technical violations in the implementation work.

The head of the committee, Bedaa Al-Nahi, said that the committee decided to summon the director of the projects department at the governorate office, along with the project’s resident engineer department, to investigate the reasons for the recorded violations, indicating that the station was implemented by the “Ababil” company in a way that did not match the technical specifications stated in the contract.

Al-Nahi added that these violations require legal accountability to identify the shortcomings and determine responsibilities, stressing that the Integrity Committee will continue its procedures without complacency against any party proven to be negligent or in violation of the terms of the contract.

She stressed that protecting public funds and ensuring the implementation of service projects in accordance with approved standards represent a top priority, in order to achieve real service to the people of the city district and prevent the recurrence of such violations.
