The head of the Agriculture and Water Committee in the Basra Provincial Council, Muhammad Al-Battat, stressed that the water reality in the governorate is still tragic, especially at the present time, stressing that the salt tongue still extends to the Qurna district.

Al-Battat stated that the rains that fell during the last period contributed to achieving a relative improvement in water quality as a result of the increase in water releases, indicating that this improvement was noticeable in areas north of Basra, while it remained limited in the center of the governorate.
