The Al-Sadiqoun Parliamentary Bloc announced its careful follow-up of the decisions and procedures of the Ministerial Council for the Economy, stressing its welcome of every step that would support the various social segments and enhance economic stability, in line with the principles of social justice and the provisions of the Iraqi Constitution.

In a statement issued by its media department, the bloc expressed its reservations regarding a number of economic and financial decisions that, according to the statement, had negative effects on the living conditions of citizens, especially those related to imposing taxes and fees on citizens and basic goods, in addition to affecting job rights, allocations, bonuses, and promotions.

Al-Sadiqoun stressed that any financial or economic measures should not be taken at the expense of the citizen’s livelihood stability or daily livelihood, noting that there are legal and constitutional problems in some decisions, as they affect acquired rights guaranteed by the Constitution, specifically Articles (14), (30) and (46), in addition to exceeding the jurisdiction of the legislative authority.

The bloc, based on its legislative and supervisory role, affirmed its adherence to the financial and economic reform paper as an alternative path based on good management of public resources, combating waste and corruption, and supporting productive sectors, without burdening the citizen with additional burdens.

Al-Sadiqoun also called for strengthening dialogue and integration between the executive and legislative authorities, reiterating its intention to use all constitutional and parliamentary tools to prevent the passage of any decisions that affect the rights of citizens or violate the constitution.
