The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, warned today, Wednesday, against attempts to impose foreign wills and leapfrog international conventions, stressing that they constitute a direct threat to global peace and stability.

Faihan explained during his meeting with Iraqi ambassadors and advanced staff at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Iraq today needs “national identity diplomacy” to confront current challenges and protect the country’s supreme interests.

He pointed out that the legislative authority will be a strong support for the ministry and its diplomatic missions, by activating the legislative and oversight tools that ensure the success of its tasks in representing Iraq in a manner befitting its historical status.

In a reading of the regional scene, he considered that violating international laws would drag the world towards dire consequences, stressing that Iraq’s presence at the heart of the cycle of regional tensions requires building an effective diplomatic system capable of protecting the state’s interests and strengthening the political system. He also stressed highlighting the national successes achieved despite the gravity of the challenges, considering diplomatic work as the first line of defense in the face of external dangers.

Faihan called on the ambassadors to be a mirror of national identity and believers in the democratic process, while providing the House of Representatives with periodic and accurate reports on countries’ dealings with Iraqi nationals, stressing the activation of the principle of reciprocity to ensure the dignity of Iraqis abroad and enhance the prestige of the state.

The meeting concluded with the House of Representatives renewing its commitment to providing all means of success for the diplomatic system, considering it the most important tool for managing crises and consolidating Iraq’s rights in international forums.
