The Basra government announced joint coordination with the competent security services to pursue foreign nationalities who violate residency requirements, within procedures described as legal and professional.

The Administrative Deputy Governor of Basra, Maher Al-Amiri, said that the Security Committee in the Basra Governorate Council plays a supervisory and coordination role with the security services and the governorate government, with the aim of controlling and organizing the file of foreign workers coming to Basra, whether Arab or foreign, and in a manner that takes into account the security and social aspects in the governorate.

Al-Amiri explained that the measures taken are being taken in full cooperation with the competent security authorities, and in accordance with the approved legal contexts, stressing that their aim is to implement the law and address violations, without targeting any specific nationality.

He pointed out that organizing the residency file falls within the framework of maintaining community security and social stability, calling for the cooperation of citizens and business owners with the competent security authorities to report cases of violation, which contributes to regulating the labor market and protecting social peace in Basra.
