The head of the Finance and Administrative Committee of the Basra Governorate Council, Shukr Mahmoud Al-Amiri, revealed the causes of the gasoline crisis that the governorate witnessed during the past days, attributing it to the depletion of quantities of improved gasoline and the failure to compensate for the shortage in a timely manner, which led to a decline in the availability of regular gasoline and the rest of the oil derivatives.

Al-Amiri explained in a press statement that the scarcity of supplies coincided with the high demand from citizens and vehicle owners, which caused great crowding at gas stations and a state of congestion and confusion in supply operations.

He stressed that the crisis will begin to gradually subside as of Tuesday, with the start of compensating for the shortage and the arrival of new quantities of fuel to the governorate, reassuring citizens of regular supplies in the near future and that there are no indications that the crisis will continue.
