An informed political source revealed, on Wednesday, that the leaders of the coordination framework are heading to hold a meeting this evening, at a time when the political arena is witnessing intense movement on more than one track.
The source stated that the meeting comes in the wake of the visit conducted by the framework delegation to the Kurdistan region, and the accompanying meetings with political leaders in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, with the aim of determining the results of those discussions and their repercussions on the general political scene.
He explained that the issue of electing the President of the Republic will be strongly present at the meeting table, especially in light of the continuing differences within the Kurdish House, and the complications it imposes on completing constitutional entitlements, in addition to examining possible political options to break the existing stalemate.
The source indicated that the agenda will also address developments in the Prime Minister’s file, with a focus on the declared American position regarding Nouri al-Maliki’s nomination, indicating that the leaders of the framework will discuss the repercussions of this position on the course of the ongoing understandings and consultations between the political forces.
