The Director of Basra Agriculture, Hadi Hussein Qassem, revealed the launch of the first export shipment of tomato crops from Safwan farms to the Arab Gulf countries, in a quantity of up to 100 tons, through the port of Umm Qasr.
Qasim explained that the export was carried out in coordination with the “Pearl Safwan” company, which obtained official approvals to export the first batch to Bahrain, Qatar and the Emirates, with the crop being packaged according to international specifications.
He added that this step represents the beginning of marketing Iraqi tomatoes to Gulf markets, with another shipment expected in the coming days heading to the State of Kuwait.
