The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, discussed with the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Party, Bafel Talabani, and his accompanying delegation the file of constitutional entitlements, amid a joint emphasis on the necessity of the political forces adhering to the legal frameworks in deciding the position of the presidency of the republic, and proceeding with appointing the candidate of the coordination framework for the presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Al-Maliki's media office reported that the meeting also discussed the overall political and security developments in the country, while emphasis was placed on strengthening coordination between national forces as a pillar of preserving state institutions and consolidating stability.

What is striking about the outcomes of the meeting is that the two parties linked the continuation of constructive political dialogue to the ability of the democratic process to overcome current obstacles, calling on the various parties to give priority to national responsibility, in an effort to achieve the aspirations of Iraqis towards security and development.
