The emergency meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, at the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command, stressed Iraq’s categorical rejection of the logic of war and aggression, stressing the state’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and security and preventing the country from being plunged into any regional conflict.

The meeting reviewed the security situation following the attacks that targeted Iraqi sites, and the accompanying escalation against the backdrop of developments related to the attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning of the danger of continuing military actions and their repercussions on the security of Iraq and the region.

The attendees affirmed that Iraq, its government and people, reject any infringement on its sovereignty or the exploitation of its airspace, lands and territorial waters as a corridor or starting point for attacks on neighboring countries. They also stressed the refusal to turn the country into an arena for settling regional scores.

The meeting denounced the unjustified aggression against Iran, and everything that affects its people, sovereignty and institutions, reiterating the call for an immediate cessation of military actions and resorting to dialogue and peaceful means provided by international law.

The government affirmed its intention to take all available legal and diplomatic measures to protect Iraq's security and stability, calling on major countries, especially the United States of America, to assume their responsibilities in containing the escalation and giving political solutions priority over the military option.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing that Iraq's position of rejecting non-peaceful means of resolving conflicts is a constitutional and consistent position that enjoys broad national consensus.
