The Security and Border Ports Committee in the Basra Governorate Council announced the issuance of higher directives requiring priority to be given to the passage of food and vegetables through the Shalamcheh port, with the aim of enhancing the flow of supplies to local markets.

The head of the committee, Aqeel Al-Fariji, said that the directives stressed facilitating the entry of containers and trucks loaded with food supplies, especially vegetables, to ensure their speedy arrival and avoid any delay that might affect their availability.

He added that work at the port continues normally and has not stopped, but temporary regulatory measures have been taken, including reducing the entry of iron transport wheels, to make way for food trucks.

Al-Fariji pointed out that this step comes within the framework of supporting food stability and ensuring the regular availability of basic materials to citizens.
