The Presidency of the House of Representatives has set next Saturday, April 11, as the date for holding the session to elect the President of the Republic.

A statement by Parliament stated that the Presidency of the Council held an expanded meeting with the heads of the parliamentary blocs to discuss a number of important files related to the work of the Council, most notably the discussion of the laws that will be included on the agendas of the upcoming sessions, in addition to completing the vote on the permanent committees.

The statement also indicated that the meeting discussed extensively the issue of electing the President of the Republic, stressing the importance of continuing to fulfill this constitutional entitlement and ending the political impasse, in light of the security and economic conditions that the country is going through.

The Presidency of the Council called on the leaders of the political blocs to assume their responsibilities in completing constitutional entitlements, and to work to form a government capable of facing the challenges.
