The director of the Basra Oil Company, Bassem Abdul Karim, announced today that the strikes that targeted the company’s oil facilities had a negative impact on the progress of work and production, in light of the escalation of regional tensions.

He explained that the company continues to produce about 900,000 barrels per day to secure the local need, noting at the same time that export operations have stopped as a result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which puts additional pressure on the oil sector.

He added that the majority of foreign companies operating in the oil fields withdrew from their sites, coinciding with the evacuation of their nationals, which increases operational challenges and affects the stability of production at the current stage.
