The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi, confirmed that the Anfal crime represents one of the most heinous crimes committed by the previous regime against the Kurdish people, due to the profound human tragedies it caused and grave human rights violations.

He stated in a statement on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Anfal crime, today, Tuesday, that this tragedy, which claimed the lives of thousands of innocent civilians, and the forced displacement and burial in mass graves that accompanied it, embodies the extent of the suffering that Iraqis were subjected to during that era, stressing the importance of drawing lessons from it to consolidate the principles of justice and fairness and promote a culture of respect for human rights.

He stressed the need to provide justice to the families of the victims, and to work to prevent the recurrence of such crimes in the future, in a way that strengthens the path of transitional justice and preserves human dignity.

He pointed out the importance of strengthening national unity and preserving the rights of all components, in order to consolidate the foundations of the constitutional state based on citizenship and justice, and contribute to achieving societal stability.
