The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adnan Faihan, confirmed that Parliament is moving towards supporting the investment environment through legislation aimed at addressing the obstacles to the work of oil and energy companies, and simplifying procedures in a way that enhances the stability of the business environment in the country.
This came during his reception with a number of owners of foreign and Iraqi oil companies from the private sector, in the presence of Representative Yasser Al-Saadi, to discuss the most prominent challenges facing the investment and energy sectors, and mechanisms for overcoming them in coordination with the relevant authorities, in a way that supports strategic projects and enhances economic development opportunities.
He stressed that the Presidency of the House of Representatives is working during the current session to create legislative climates supportive of investment, stressing the importance of removing obstacles facing reputable national and foreign companies, and facilitating procedures in line with the requirements of the current economic stage.
He pointed out that developing the oil and energy sector represents one of the basic pillars of the national economy, in light of the need to attract international capital and expertise to support development projects and expand investment opportunities in Iraq.
