Representative Raja Fadel Al-Hamdi stressed today, Sunday, that Basra electricity represents a “red line,” stressing that any attempt to undermine the governorate’s share or manipulate the file of supplying it with electrical energy “will not be passed and will be confronted forcefully.”

Al-Hamdi said in a statement, “Basra is entering a blazing summer that is incomparable to other governorates, and it cannot be accepted that its people will pay the price for political deals or the failure of other governments,” noting that “Basra’s electricity is part of its operating budget and no one has any credit for it.”

She warned that “violating Basra’s rights will not go unanswered,” in light of mounting fears of a decline in electrical power supply hours as temperatures rise.
