The Reconstruction and Development Coalition downplayed the impact of the recent withdrawals that struck its ranks, stressing the stability of its parliamentary size and cohesion in the face of political changes, coinciding with its leaders revealing complex behind-the-scenes issues related to the formation of the Zaidi government and the raging conflict over ministerial portfolios, in addition to directing sharp accusations against the State of Law coalition of violating the agreements.
The leader of the coalition, Mashreq Al-Fariji, mocked the departing representatives by saying that the coalition replaced the second-round representatives with four new first-round representatives to maintain its weight of 37 representatives, considering that these withdrawals created important areas and diagnosed positions, while revealing the paradox of MP Hanan Al-Fatlawi remaining within the coalition’s special groups until now.
Al-Fariji explained that the coalition has accurate information about the presence of expected withdrawals from other large political blocs, indicating at the same time that the eligibility for reconstruction and development settled with the Ministry of Oil for 22 points, while Ahmed Al-Asadi was aspiring to the Ministry of Education and has an agreement with Ali Naheer.
Coalition member, Muhammad Al-Khalidi, supported the position by emphasizing that the reconstruction and development project is “ongoing” and has not stopped, pointing out that the Al-Zaidi government enjoys broad legislative cover amounting to 290 parliamentary seats as a result of a direct settlement and agreement from the coordination framework.
Al-Khalidi doubted the opponents’ ability to destabilize the scene, directing harsh criticism at the State of Law coalition, which he accused of violating the agreements of the Presidency of Parliament, its two deputies, and the Presidency of the Republic, describing their recent political movement as a loser with a score of “5-0” after they were unable to pass their candidates to the point that a portion of the State of Law representatives themselves did not vote for them.
Regarding the secrets of the conflict over the security portfolios and the complexity of appointing Qasim Atta to the Ministry of Interior, Al-Fariji revealed that Mr. Nouri Al-Maliki presented seven candidates for the Ministry, challenging him by saying, “If they bother to take the Ministry of Interior, let them come forward,” pointing out that two of the Reconstruction representatives voted for Atta contrary to the general trend, while Yasser Al-Maliki did not vote in his favor the first time, while Al-Khalidi commented on this failure by saying, “If they bring angels, he will not walk,” expressing His wishes for the acting Ministries of Interior and Defense to remain under the management of Al-Zaidi until the end of the government term.
