Representative Yasser Al-Husseini described the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani as “the most corrupt government in the history of Iraq,” stressing that he bears full responsibility for his words. Al-Husseini appeared in a video from inside Baghdad airport, followed by Al-Raya, declaring: “I am responsible for my words... This government is the most corrupt since the founding of the Iraqi state, and the corruption and confusion that is occurring exceeds all limits.” The representative did not limit himself to making the general accusation, but rather specifically referred to files that he described as “disastrous,” including the corruption of the Ministry of Transport, and what is happening at Baghdad Airport, considering that what is happening there “exceeds the theft of the century,” calling for those involved to be held accountable and the files of recent contracts and deals to be opened to the public. Al-Husseini added: “This government’s waiver of Iraq’s sovereignty in the water file through attempts to annul the decisions of the Federal Court is a betrayal against the people and the homeland,” noting that the concessions are not limited to administrative files only, but extend to strategic files affecting Iraq’s national security.
