Today, Monday, the Ministry of Electricity announced the operation of the new transmission line (FAW 400 KV - Industrial Institute 132 KV) and its entry into service for the first time, in a step aimed at supporting the stability of the electrical network in Basra Governorate and the southern regions. The Ministry stated in a statement followed by Al-Raya that this achievement represents a qualitative leap towards enhancing the stability of the electricity system and strengthening the infrastructure of the transportation network to achieve energy sustainability in Basra and neighboring governorates. She explained that the new line extends 76 kilometers and includes 244 transmission towers, with a total capacity of 480 megawatts, which contributes to providing a more stable electrical supply to the areas located in the Abu Al-Khasib district and nearby areas. The Ministry indicated that the importance of the line goes beyond improving local service, as it supports enhancing network flexibility within the strategy of the Gulf Interconnection Project, which is a strategic path for energy integration at the region level. The Ministry of Electricity appreciated the efforts made by the engineering and technical staff at the General Electric Power Transmission Company in the Southern Region, which worked to complete the project within the specified times.
